    I bought a DV series laptop to use with streaming media and for the first six months it was great. Then it started hanging up during the boot. In the last sixteen weeks it’s been in for repair three times and the motherboard has been replaced twice. This time they’re replacing the RAM and the proc too. HP sold me a piece of junk and now they’re trying to sell me an extended warranty to cover their faulty equipment. Check online- there are many documented cases of DV series motherboard problems as well as HP’s poor warranty service and non-existant customer service!! If you don’t want to repair your laptop every six weeks, look at a different brand!

    The mousepad didn’t work on the first laptop I received, then Amazon shipped me the 2nd one (rather quickly I might add). No problems, so far. It’s alittle big and it takes a good while to start up. I think the computer would function alot better if HP removed all of their software crap, but what are you going to do. Descent computer.

    Be careful when ordering/receiving this product from Amazon. I recently ordered a “new” HP dv6 3030us from Amazon.com, not some third party distributor. Let’s just say it was not “new” when it arrived at my door. While all the correct plastic protector guards/shields were on the laptop, there were marks that it had been used before, and I am not talking about finger prints.

    The top/screen portion of the laptop actually had spacing between two pieces of plastic, i.e. someone had used/abused this laptop and it was re-packaged and sent to me. There were also scratch marks and abrasions on the actual keypad portion. All of these indications make me believe that this laptop hadd been operated by someone else prior to my taking ownership. Overall I am very disappointed with this purchase and considering asking for my money back via product return.

    I would recommend ordering the computer directly from HP’s webiste. Alas, I needed mine pronto and the quickest HP could deliver was 12-18 days, or I would have done the same.

    I will keep you up to date on any issues/problems if I do try to return the laptop.
